The World Best Pairs Finals took place at a very hot and sunny Swietochlowice on Sunday. A&T's Steve Harris scored 8 points plus 1 bonus for the England team which finished behind Poland in the Veterans match. Veterans Best Pairs Final result : Poland 26 England 23 Wales 18 Ireland 17 Australia 12. The junior match was a real thriller, as Wales led at the halfway stage. England fought back from third place at the halfway stage, to beat Poland by a point, with Wales a further point behind. Junior Best Pairs Final result : England 34 Poland 33 Wales 32 Australia 20. Wales again led at the halfway point in the Senior Best Pairs Final. Poland fought back and sealed the title with a last heat 7-3 over Ireland. Australia came from the back to beat Wales in a run-off for 2nd place. Senior Best Pairs Final result: Poland 24 Australia 21 Wales 21 England 17 Ireland 13. |
