Wed 19 May Manchester League Senior & Junior GP1 Astley & Tyldesley

Astley & Tyldesley hosted Round 1 of the Manchester League Grand Prix series on Wednesday evening. Riders from all three North West clubs, A&T, Bury and Stockport competed.

In the Senior (Division 1) match, defending champions Astley & Tyldesley took the team win, by virtue of the points scored by their top five riders, with Charlie Burgess top scoring for A&T with 12 points. Stockport's Terry Norman raced to a 16 points maximum score, as they pipped Bury for 2nd place on the night. In the inaugural Veterans GP series, Terry leads from A&T's Steve Harris, who rode safely on his return from a broken wrist. A&T's Lucy Grantham leads the Women's GP series.

Astley & Tyldesley also took the spoils in the Junior (Division 2) match, in defence of their league title. A&T's brothers Frank and John White both raced unbeaten in the u-10 and u-16 categories respectively, with A&T's Duncan Whalley top scoring in the u-13s match, losing once to Bury's Tom Dunphy in heat 4.
