Sun 14th August | North & Scotland Regional Cycle Speedway Individual Championships | Hull | |
A&T had five riders in action at the North & Scotland Regional Cycle Speedway Individual Championships, at Hull, on Sunday. On a hot, sunny day, track conditions were dry and slippery. Levi Edwards took second place in the u-10s event, after scoring 18 points, one behind the winner Bury's Bobby Dunphy, with Hull's Harry Gibson in third place, on 17. Josh Pilkington scored 15 points, after missing his opening ride. Duncan Whalley took 2nd place in both the u-16 and u-19 categories. In the u-16s event, a retirement in heat 2, after suffering a puncture, proved costly, as his 11 points total was one behind the winner, Sheffield's Sam Stansfield. Duncan beat Bury's Tom Dunphy in a run-off for 2nd place. Sheffield's Kielan Burton won the u-19s event, with a maximum score, ahead of Duncan Whalley on 12 and Sam Stansfield on 8. Emily Burgess also finished 2nd in the Women's competition. She scored 13 points, one behind the winner, Sheffield's Lizzie Rigley, with Sheffield's Laura Watson third on 9. A gate exclusion in heat 9 of the Open Individual proved costly for Reece Pollitt. He won three races to finish joint 5th on 14 points, as Sheffield's Ed Morton won the title, on 19 points. |
