On Sunday, Astley & Tyldesley took on Sheffield in a full programme of North & Scotland League fixtures at Gin Pit. Sheffield had already clinched the Division 1 title, and they extended their unbeaten run, by beating A&T 100-80. Both sides had riders missing. Best for A&T was Northern Individual Champion, John White, whose 20 points score included three race wins and setting the fastest time of the season at Gin Pit, 42.60 seconds, in heat 15. Pawel Idziorek top scored for the visitors, losing only to John White in heat 17. Twelve of the races were shared heats, but Sheffield knew when to strike, winning the other six races. North & Scotland League Division 1 result: Astley & Tyldesley 80 Sheffield 100 A&T: John White 20, Frank White 16 (2), Terry Norman 15 (2), Duncan Whalley 9 (2), Steve Harris 9 (1), Josh Pilkington 7, Oscar Belt 4. A&T needed to win the Division 2 match, to force a tie break match with Sheffield, to determine the Northern section winners. However, A&T had six youth and junior riders, whilst Sheffield fielded five adults. A&T's youngsters put up a great fight, with 13 year old Frank White in brilliant form, dropping only one point, from all outside gates. Frank lost only to Kieran Hale, who was unbeaten in his three races. Sheffield ran out 81-69 winners to secure first place in the Northern section, with A&T second. Sheffield will now face the Scottish section winners, Edinburgh, in a Play-off to determine the title. There was success for A&T, as a thumping 96-16 win in the Division 3 match, saw A&T regain the Northern League Division 3 title, by extending their unbeaten record this season. Alex Lawless raced unbeaten in the u-10s category, as did Oliver Banyard in the u-13 section.
