Two Astley & Tyldesley riders secured gold medals in Saturday's European Nations Cup matches at the Skierki track in Torun, Poland. Emily Burgess scored 12 points from 5 races, as England recovered from an early 7 points deficit to run out 83-65 winners over Poland in the Women's European Nations Final. John White lined up for England in the evening's Junior European Nations Cup Final. In a thrilling match, as fortunes fluctuated between the two teams, England ran out winners, 91-87. John played a valuable team role in scoring 7 points from 3 races, beating an opponent each time out. Steve Harris rode for the England team which took the silver medal in the Veterans European Nations Cup Final. Steve scored 8 points from 3 completed rides. Final score: Poland 77 England 51 Ireland 44. Emily lines up in the Women's Pre-Qualifier at 10.00 am on Sunday, with John racing in the Junior Individual Final at 1.30 pm (Polish times). |
