There was a great day of racing at Gin Pit, as Astley & Tyldesley hosted the North & Scotland Individual Championships on Sunday. Morning rain made for a wet track early on, but this dried out throughout the afternoon, necessitating track watering before the Senior Final. Six matches were completed in six hours. The early matches saw A&T's Alex Lawless and Hull's Harry Gibson winning the u-10 and u-13 matches respectively with maximum scores. It was a similar story for the next round of matches, as Hull's Noah Lyon and Sheffield's Dariusz Pilas won the u-16 and o-40 competitions with maximum scores. The u-19 match was highly competitive, as the three leading scorers all went into the last race level on points, before Noah Lyon took the race win to complete a double. Sheffield's Lizzie Rigley raced to a maximum score to win the Women's event. 18 riders lined up for the Senior event, so a 15 heats pre-qualifier took place to determine the 16 finalists. Will Banyard qualified but then withdrew, to allow Laura Watson into the final. A superb 20 heats of racing took place in a very competitive match. After 16 heats, Fife's Kayden Davidson and Sheffield's Pawel Idziorek were joint leaders on 15 points, followed by Hull's Lewis Foxley on 13, with A&T's defending champion John White and Sheffield's Aiden Owen, both on 12. Four of those riders met in the decisive heat 19. Davidson sped away from grid 1 to take a clear lead, as Idziorek emerged from a hectic first bend into second place. He gave chase and closed the gap, but the Fife rider held on to take the race win and the title, in the fastest time of the day, 42.50 seconds. The dropped points by Owen and Foxley ensured that Jack Lister's heat 18 race win was sufficient for him to secure 3rd place overall.
