Astley & Tyldesley Miners' Welfare / CTA Direct Cycle Speedway Club staged their Annual Presentation & Social Evening at the Miners' Welfare Club last Friday evening. Around 55 people attended a most enjoyable evening, which started with a performance by magician Chas, who has previously appeared at Blackpool with the late Tommy Cooper. This was followed by a buffet, then the presentation of awards to all club riders, officials and helpers, as well as the presentation of certificates to the 45 volunteers who helped out at the World Championships in August. The evening was then rounded off with a disco.

North West Trophies Cup for Best Novice - Daniel Swales

Team Manager Mike Hack has now successfully completed his British Cycling Level 2 Club Coach Award.

Work started on improving the Gin Pit circuit on Sunday. This winter's work will consist of re-laying the pits bend to achieve consistent levels of banking through the corner.
