Double Success for Astley & Tyldesley

There was a double success for Astley & Tyldesley club riders in the final national round of the British Youth & Junior League series at Newport on Saturday.

John White is the 2014 u-8s British Youth & Junior League Grand Prix Champion! John started the day with a commanding 11 points lead and he clinched the title by virtue of qualifying for the 'A' Final. With the pressure off, he finished in 4th place, after starting from the disadvantaged grid 4 position, to win the championship by 9 clear points. This was a terrific performance by 7 year old John, who has shown his consistency and ability, by qualifying for the 'A' Final in each of the eight rounds ridden throughout the season.

Reece Pollitt started the day in 3rd position in the u-16s championship. He turned in a brilliant performance to win the u-16s 'A' Final, for the second successive round and that moved him up into 2nd place in the final standings of the 2014 u-16s British Youth & Junior League Grand Prix series.

A champion and a runner-up from the Astley & Tyldesley Cycle Speedway Club! Well done to both lads and the parents and club officials who have supported them all season.

John White's victory means that he has become the 15th British Individual Champion from the Astley & Tyldesley Club in the past 20 years - a terrific testimony to the A&T riders and to the recruitment policies and coaching methods of the A&T Club.
