Outstanding Recognition for A&T Trio

Three local cycle speedway youngsters from the Astley & Tyldesley club are very happy this week, with outstanding recognition for their successes at cycle speedway.

17 years old Reece Pollitt, of Gin Pit Village, has been selected to race for the England junior team to compete in the Home International match at Ipswich on Saturday 11th July. Racing in the same match, but wearing the colours of Ireland, will be his A&T team mate, 15 years old Ciaran Collins, of Hindsford. This is the first international recognition for both lads (pictured right) and is fully merited for their efforts and performances for A&T.

Reece is the first A&T rider to represent England Juniors since Damien Hack in 1999, whilst Ciaran is A&T's first Ireland junior international since the trio of Phil Moreton, Gavin Creaney and Luke Mather in 1995.

8 years old John White (pictured left), of Winstanley, won the Sports Achievement award at the Wigan Education Awards 15 evening. The award was given in recognition of John's 2014 season achievements in cycle speedway with A&T, which included winning British u-8 Grand Prix title.

The award is rewarding an individual or team for excelling in a particular sport or sports at school or through their dedication and commitment outside of school hours.
