Astley & Tyldesley raced at Bury in the 1st Round of the Northern Fours & Junior League series on Sunday. Despite having to make late changes to the team line-up for the senior Fours League match, A&T put up a great showing, narrowly pipped by Bury for 2nd place in the six teams match. Damian Zareba rode to a superb maximum, with terrific support from Ciaran Collins and Mark Grantham, along with a good showing from Gareth Paine. Stockport ran out winners, but A&T's performance augurs well for a good season for Team Green. A much bigger and improved Nathan Everett, of Hull, also rode unbeaten. Referee- Andy Schofield (Hull). A&T's youngsters impressed in the Junior League, finishing runners- up to Bury and beating the other four teams by a considerable margin. Reece Pollitt raced unbeaten in the u-19 match, whilst Ciaran Collins dropped just one point in the u-16 event. There were impressive performances from Charlie Burgess, Jack Murray, Nathan Holt, John White and Emily Burgess. Charlie Burgess was the top scorer in the u-10s match, Heckmondwike's Tom Whitwam raced unbeaten in the u-13s event, Ciaran Collins top scored in the u-16 category. Both Kyle Holland and Reece Pollitt were unbeaten in the u-19 match, as was Adam Turnbull in the Division 2 category. The only downside for A&T was John White sustaining a broken bone in his hand, in an off track accident.
