Sat 23rd July | British Youth & Junior League National Round 2 | Southampton | |
Astley & Tyldesley had two winners at the 2nd National Round of the British Youth & Junior League series at Southampton on Saturday. Four A&T riders made the long trip to the south coast, for a meeting ridden in hot sunshine on a dry and dusty track. John White raced unbeaten in the u-10s qualifiers, before winning the Grand Prix 'A' Final, for the second successive round. In the u-14s event, Max Evans took his second successive Grand Prix 'A' Final win of the series. This means that both John and Max currently lead the national standings at their respective age groups. 5 years old Frank White beat plenty of older opponents, to finish 11th in the u-8s event, after taking 3rd place in the Grand Prix 'C' Final. Jack Murray was unlucky to take a heavy fall in the u-10s 'D' Final, putting him in 16th place at that event. There are two rounds left in the British Youth & Junior League series, with Astley & Tyldesley hosting the next round on Saturday 13th August. Paul Graham put in a great showing for the North, by bagging 12 points, in the Veterans Regional Team match at Leicester on Saturday. The Midlands won this four team event, with the North runners-up. |
