Astley & Tyldesley had 8 riders competing in the 1st national round of the British Youth & Junior League series at Leicester on Saturday. And the A&T riders certainly made their presence felt amongst Britain's best junior riders, with some terrific performances. Two A&T riders, John White and Max Evans, won their respective events, at u-10 and u-14 level. Both lads turned in unbeaten performances, by winning all their qualifying heats and their Grand Prix 'A' Final. Emily Burgess was unlucky to pick up an exclusion in a qualifying race, which pushed her down to the B Final, where she came 2nd, to finish 6th overall in the u-12s match. Jack Murray and Ciaran Collins both qualified for the B Finals, finishing 8th, at u-10 and u-17 levels respectively. Matt Snell won the D Final, finishing in 13th place in the u-14s event. A&T's two 5 year olds, Aiden Green and Frank White turned in great performances in their first national event in the u-8s match, with both riders winning races. Frank suffered an unlucky exclusion in the C Final, with Aiden 4th in the D Final. Unfortunately Charlie Burgess had to miss the competition, after breaking his arm midweek. Our best wishes go to Charlie for a full and speedy recovery. |
